A standout with the Owls from 2003-05, Walter Gibbs is in his 12th year as a member of the coaching staff in 2016. He was an integral member of the 2005 squad that reached the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in program history. Gibbs earned All-New England and All-Northeast-10 honors as a senior.
Gibbs joined the SCSU staff with a strong coaching background at the scholastic level. He was an assistant coach on the staff at Hillhouse High School in New Haven, Conn. during its 2002 and 2006 State Championship seasons.
Gibbs also played scholastically at Hillhouse.
A New Haven native, he also currently resides in the city.
