Brian Fitzpatrick joined the Southern Connecticut State University basketball staff as an assistant coach in August 2023. He will assist in all aspects of the program. His responsibilities will include helping with practicing planning, scouting, player development and recruiting.
 
He joined the Owls after recently retiring from a nine-year professional career. During those 9 seasons, he played for 12 different professional clubs in 10 different countries across three continents.  As a professional, Fitzpatrick was a member of three championships, highlighted by winning the 2015 Finals MVP as a member of Horsens IC in Denmark. Fitzpatrick also represented Ireland, his ancestral country, at the international level. He was called up to the senior squad during the 2016 European Small Countries championship in Chisinau, Moldova and again in 2021 for the November window of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 pre-qualifiers.
 
Before embarking on his professional playing career, Fitzpatrick played collegiately at Bucknell University for four years, transferring there after spending his freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania. During his time at Bucknell, he was a part of the winningest four-year stretch in Bucknell history with a record of 94-39. He was a member of three Patriot League regular season titles and two Patriot League tournament championships. Fitzpatrick was named to the Patriot League All-Academic team in 2014. He graduated from Bucknell in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree majoring in history and psychology.
 
Prior to his collegiate career, Fitzpatrick grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Xavier High School in 2008. He did a post-graduate year at Northfield Mount Hermon.
 
Fitzpatrick currently lives in Cheshire with his wife, Sofia.
