Nicola Luongo is a goalkeeper coach with the Southern Connecticut State men's soccer program.
Luongo is a former professional goalkeeper in Venezuela who played for Deportivo Petare FC (Deportivo Miranda) in the second division and Varguenses FC and Colegio San Agustin del Paraiso in the third division. He played collegiately at Bellevue College in Washington in the Northwest Athletic Conference. He developed in Venezuelan academies including Caracas FC, Metropolitanos FC, Atletico Venezuela, Deportivo Petare FC and FRATELSA Sport, and had international opportunities in Portugal and Spain. In 2020, he won the Christmas Cup with Varguenses FC, earning Best Goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player of the final.
His coaching experience includes Southern Connecticut (NCAA Division II), CT United Academy (MLS NEXT), Keepermax Goalkeeper Academy, GKSTARS Goalkeeper Academy, Revolution United and clubs in Venezuela including FRATELSA Sport, Deportivo Petare FC and Total Porteros.
Luongo earned an associate degree in accounting and a certificate in accounting from Connecticut State Community College in 2025, graduating cum laude. He is a member of United Soccer Coaches and holds an Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma (Good Pass), United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diplomas Level 1, 2 and 3, a Venezuelan Goalkeeper Coach License C and Venezuelan Coaching License C.
Luongo was born and raised in Venezuela and holds Venezuelan and Italian citizenship.
