Sean O'Brien


Former Southern Connecticut captain Sean O'Brien joins the Owls' coaching staff in 2018 following a successful professional career that followed a stellar collegiate campaign with SCSU.

O'Brien was a two-time All-Northeast 10 Second Team selection (2007, 2008) and was also a two-time United Soccer Coaches/NSCAA All-Region pick (2007, 2009). O'Brien also captained the first Southern Connecticut team to win a Northeast 10 Tournament Championship team when the Owls won in 2007 and also led the program to four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. 

Following his SCSU career, O'Brien played professional in Germany for SC Hartenfels 04 in 2012 and SV Wacker 21 in 2014. He then joined the Elm City Express in 2017, winning a National Championship as the team's captain that season. 

O'Brien's coaching experience began at Notre Dame (West Haven) High School and included time at the Morgan (Conn.) School and with the Cheshire Soccer Club.Â
