Dan Labbadia joined the SCSU men's track & field coaching staff following his graduation in 2022. A javelin thrower as a student-athlete for the Owls, Labbadia has worked primarily with the Owls' throwers, most notably 2022 and 2024 NCAA Division II Javelin Throw National Champion Jordan Davis. Labbadia's efforts with Davis have also produced three of the top-10 throws in NCAA history in 2024.
As a student-athlete, Labbadia never finished lower than fourth in the NE10 Outdoor Track & Field Javelin Throw Championships and won the Silver Medal in 2022 with a mark of 59.41m. Labbadia's career-best of 60.04m came at the 2022 NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships which also produced a fifth-place finish.
In addition to mentoring four-time All-American Davis, Labbadia also guided Nevan Burke to the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships. In addition, Davis won four-straight NE10 and NEICAAA Championships while Burke finished third at NE10's in 2024 and second at New Englands.
