NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Sarah Muise (Killingworth, Conn.) of the women’s lacrosse team and senior Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) of the men’s outdoor track and field team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Muise played a pivotal role in the Owls’ three contests last week, including Southern’s first win of the year, a 13-11 victory over Post. For the week, she registered nine points (eight goals, one assist). Muise also had seven groundballs, 12 draw controls and two caused turnovers. She scored both Owls’ goals against New Haven, posted a four-goal effort in the win over Post, and added three points in the contest against Franklin Pierce.
Lumax, named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week earlier today, recorded a fifth place finish in the 800 meters in 1:50.13 at the Raleigh (N.C.) Relays. He was second among Division II performers in that event. In addition, he also helped the 4x400 relay finish in fifth place in 3:11.22, which was also second among Division II competitors.
