NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) of the women’s basketball team and senior Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) of the men’s basketball team have been named as the Connecticut Army National Guard/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Langston earned Athlete of the Week honors for the third week in a row. In the Owls’ only contest last week, he registered his sixth career double-double with team-highs of 25 points and 14 rebounds in a two-point overtime loss to Pace.
Lester helped lead the Owls to their second win in a row and first Northeast-10 Conference victory of the season last week at Pace. She posted a career and game-high 18 points along with three rebounds and three steals in an eight-point win over the Setters.
The Connecticut Army National Guard is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University’s ‘Athlete of the Week’ recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the ‘Athlete of the Week’ program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
