NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Jessica Maier (Enfield, Conn.) of the field hockey team and junior Eli Parks (Bristol, Conn.) of the football team have been named as the Chick-fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athletes of the Week.
Maier registered five points (two goals, one assist) in a 1-1 week for the Owls. She had two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 triumph over Molloy. Maier also added an assist on the Owls' lone goal in a loss to Pace.
Parks rushed for a career-high 157 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns in the Owls' 45-26 win over Stonehill on Saturday. His touchdown runs of 45 and 60 yards came in the second half and turned a four-point Owls lead into an 18-point cushion, helping his team pull away for good.
Chick-fil-A of North Haven, located at 560 Universal Drive, is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Week' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Week' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each week for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
