NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball had the daunting task of derailing the red-hot No. 2 nationally-ranked Bentley College Falcons on Tuesday night from Moore Fieldhouse in New Haven. The Owls hung tough with the Falcons in a game that included nine ties and eight lead changes, but Bentley pulled away and took the game by a score of 92-53.
The Owls fell to 0-2 both overall and in the Northeast-10 Conference, while No. 2 Bentley improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Sophomore
Trevor Harris (Nanuet, N.Y.) posted all of his team-high 10 points in the first half as the Owls entered the intermission trailing by a score of 37-30.
Bentley never trailed in the second half, as they dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half with a 30-11 run that put the game out of reach.
Ten Owls contributed to the team's 53 point total. Freshman Peter Simek (Bratislava, Slovakia) chipped in nine points and senior Devon Sullivan (Jamaica, N.Y.) added eight. Sullivan's effort elevated his career scoring mark to an even 500 points. Sullivan and senior Ktrice McNeill (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Owls' rebounding effort with six apiece.
The Owls are back in action on Sunday, November 25, as they hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the University of New Haven. The action tips off from Charger Gymnasium at 4 p.m.
