SCSU Falls On The Road To AIC, 2-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Marino Crocco (North Haven, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season but would not be enough, as the Owls fell one goal short at AIC on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Owls dropped to 5-6-5, 4-3-5 in Northeast-10 competition, while AIC improved to 4-10-3, 2-6-3 in the league.

AIC struck first in the 36th minute, when Benard Kessie scored off a pass from Derick Ofori for the first goal of the game. AIC would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half of play, Crocco scored the equalizer in the 58th minute off a pass from Douglas Perkins (East Windsor, Conn.), for his first points of the season. However, just five minutes later, Leon Lopez connected with Matias Mononen for what proved to be the game-winning goal, as AIC upset the Owls 2-1.

Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) made four saves in the losing effort for the Owls, while Joseph Ferrentino recorded three saves in the victory for the Yellow Jackets.

SCSU will play its final regular season game on Oct. 25 against the Hawks from St. Anselm's College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
