Box Score

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The women's soccer team closed out their regular season with a 1-0 victory at the University of New Haven on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Owls clinched sole possession of fourth place in the Northeast-10 Conference with an overall record of 11-4-2, 9-3-2 in the league. The Chargers dropped to 9-9-1, 7-7 in Northeast-10 competition.

Sophomore Hailey Huntington (Wallingford, Conn.) scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute of play, when she capitalized on mistake from the Charger defense. The turnover in the back left Huntington alone in front for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Huntington now has six goals on the season for the Owls.

Katie DiDio (Vernon Conn.) made four saves in her 9th shutout of the season. DiDio and the Owl defense have been fantastic of late, not allowing a goal in their last four games. Charger goalkeeper, Kim Taylor tallied four saves in the losing effort.

SCSU will return to action on Nov. 2 for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Jess Dow Field. The Owls will face the Penmen from Southern New Hampshire, a team they battled to a 1-1 draw in double overtime earlier in the season. Kickoff has yet to be determined for this match.
