SCSU Women's Soccer Falls To No. 10 Franklin Pierce

NEW HAVEN, CONN.. — Southern Connecticut women's soccer struck first and held a two-goal lead at halftime, but a relentless second-half surge from No. 10 Franklin Pierce proved too much as the Owls fell, 4–2, on Sunday afternoon at Jess Dow Field. 

Senior forward Shianna Reeves opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing a feed from Nicky Deslauriers for her second goal of the season. Deslauriers added her second assist of the match in the 36th minute, setting up Elizabeth Bishop to double the Owls' lead.



Southern Connecticut (3–8–3, 1–7–1 NE10) entered the break with momentum and a 2–0 advantage, but Franklin Pierce (10–1–4, 6–0–2) responded with four unanswered goals in the second half to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Southern goalkeeper Abby Aughe made 10 saves, including several key stops early in the second half, but the pressure eventually broke through.

Despite the loss, the Owls showed flashes of promise, particularly in the first half, where they capitalized on limited chances and defended well against a nationally ranked opponent.

Southern Connecticut returns to action on Friday, Oct. 31 when it hosts Molloy at 4 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
