Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

SCSU Women's Soccer Falls to Molloy

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut women's soccer came up short in their final match of the 2025 season, losing against Molloy 2-1. The Owls finish the season with a record of 3-9-3.

The Owls were very competitive against Molloy, who had not lost a game since September 6th. Southern opened the scoring in the 14th minute. After some chaos on a corner kick, Ryleigh Phillips was able to send a ball into the box, and senior defender Shelby Green was there to knock it past the Lions' keeper. It was the first goal of the season for Green, who started every game for the Owls in the past two seasons. It also marked the second assist for Phillips in her rookie season.

The Lions were able to strike back before the end of the half, scoring in the 40th minute. Molloy continue their momentum into the second half, scoring the game winner from distance in the 62nd minute. Senior goalkeeper Abby Aughe had another solid game in net, recording six saves in her final collegiate game. She recorded five or more saves in each of the Owls' last five games and nine times total on the year.

The Owls had several more chances, but were unable to convert, ultimately giving Molloy the win.

The Owls will graduate seven team members: Abby Aughe, Nicky Deslauriers, Mackenzie McCormack, Aimee Girard, Aries Bell, Shianna Reeves, and Olivia Jones

Southern Connecticut women's soccer will be back on the field next September as they look to build upon the 2025 season.
