OWLS DELIVER IN NE-10 COMPETITION

The Owls played two very difficult games last week, and finished with an impressive 1-0-1 weekly record, improving their overall record to 6-3-1, 4-2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action. This week SCSU will host Pace University on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. and then later in the week, on Oct. 11, the Owls will travel to North Andover, Mass. for another conference match against Merrimack College. Game time is set for 12 p.m.

KEEPING PACE IN THE NE-10
The women's soccer team is currently ranked sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference, only one game out of first place. In a very tight race, last week the Owls defeated Assumption College, 2-1, on a late goal from Jenna Mallico on Wednesday night. Then on Saturday afternoon, the Owls traveled to No. 17 Southern New Hampshire, and came away with a 1-1 draw in double overtime.

DELLA ROSE AND MALLICO LEAD OWL OFFENSE
Gina Della Rose and Mallico have combined for 10 goals and 5 assists on the year for the Owls. Della Rose is currently second on the team with nine total points on the season. Mallico leads the team with 16 points, placing her in a tie for fifth place in the NE-10 Conference.

MOVING FORWARD IN 2007
The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team improved on its 2006 mark by two victories in 2007. The Owls were ranked as high as No. 10 in the region during the course of the campaign.

A GOOD KNIGHT FOR THE OWLS
Sophomore Ashley Knight earned All-New England honors from two organizations and was also selected All-Northeast-10 for the second straight year by virtue of her play during the 2007 campaign.

BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS
A year after being sidelined for all but three matches, Gina Della Rose returned to the Owls' lineup and appeared in 17 matches in 2007. She led the team with four assists and finished with six points on the year.

LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore Erin Conrod set the scoring pace for the Owls with five goals last season. Conrod also led in overall points with 10. Three of her five goals were game-winners.

RIGHT BEHIND HER
Sophomores Danielle MacMurray and Katrina Cook tied for second in scoring behind Conrod, as each netted four goals and eight total points on the season.

A STANDOUT STOPPER
Freshman goalkeeper Katie DiDio allowed one goal or less in seven of her last 10 outings in 2007. She accumulated four shutouts on the season, as well as combining with junior Alicia Purzycki to record a team shutout.

ON DECK
Up next, the Owls will travel to North Easton, Mass. for a match against NE-10 Conference foe, Stonehill College. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
