NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior guard
Derrick Corbett (New Haven, Conn.) had a game-high 19 points but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team was defeated by Northeast-10 conference opponent New Haven by a score of 59-44. The Owls are now 0-6 on the season and 0-4 in the NE-10. New Haven is now 2-4 and 2-3 in the conference.
SCSU came out strong taking an early 7-0 lead and held onto the momentum for most of the second half. They were lead by the hot hand of Corbett who scored 15 of his 19 in the first 20 minutes of regulation and hit three from behind the arc. The Chargers of New Haven were able to cut the lead to eight and head into half trailing 30-22.
New Haven opened the second half on an 11-1 run and took a two-point lead. They held that lead for the rest of the half as the Owls were outmatched by the Chargers, pulling away with a 59-44 victory.

Kieran Ramsey (N. Hollywood, Calif.) was one point and one rebound shy of his third straight double-double with nine apiece. Junior center
John Mazzarella (Wallingford, Conn.) posted double digit rebounds for the fourth straight game with 14 and added four blocks. Sophomore
Andrew Zito (Windsor, Conn.) was third on the team with nine points. Freshman
Chris Harris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the leading assist man with six and sophomore
Lance Long (New Haven, Conn.) added four points.
Cassius Chaney and Kelvin Jackson led the Chargers with 15 each. Darryl Greene and D.J. Sackmann joined them in double digits with 13 and 11 respectively.
The Owls return to Moore Field House on Saturday, Dec. 6 as they face another Northeast-10 opponent, Saint Anselm's. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
