NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team defeated Post University, 4-0, in its opener Thursday afternoon at Jess Dow Field. Three different Owls tallied goals in the win.

The Owls begin the season at 1-0 with the win, while the Eagles fall to 0-1.

SCSU struck first with a goal from Ashley Knight (Rockland, Mass.) in the 23rd minute of action. Knight capitalized on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box for her first goal of the season.

Just 10 minutes later, Nicole Reverberi (Massapequa, N.Y.) scored another goal to extend the lead to 2-0.

In the second half of action, SCSU continued to dominate. Hailey Huntington (Wallingford, Conn.) added another goal in the 78th minute off an assist from Reverberi. Huntington provided another insurance goal in the 90th minute, to close the 4-0 final.

Owl goalkeepers Katie DiDio (Vernon Conn.) and Heather Hawks (Thomaston Conn.) combined to make one save in the victory.

SCSU goes for its second win of the season on Sunday against Queens College. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
