Men’s Soccer Falls To Bridgeport, 2-0

RINDGE, N.H. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team falls to the University of Bridgeport, 2-0, in its second game of the season at Sodexho Field. The non-conference match was played in the second round of the 2008 Franklin Pierce Labor Day Classic.

The Purple Knights continue their season 1-1, as the Owls fall to 0-2.

Junior forward Bayonne (Amityville, NY) scored the only two goals of the game to lead the University of Bridgeport to victory over the Owls.

Bayonne scored his first goal in the 41st minute of action from a ball fed up the middle by defender Nick Campbell (Queens, N.Y.). The second goal was scored in 61st minute of play when junior forward Curt Sutherland (Branford, CT) played a ball to the top of the penalty area and was able to find the feet of Bayonne to double the Bridgeport lead.

Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) tallied five saves in the losing effort.

Southern looks for its first win on Sept. 3 against the Post University Eagles. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
