NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Caldwell Tuesday night, 3-0. The Owls were lead by junior Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, Minn.) with 12 kills and freshman Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, N.J.) who added 27 assists. SCSU won by scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-18.
The Owls improve to 4-1 on the season. Caldwell is 0-1.
SCSU started strong and never looked back, trailing only once in all three games by a one point margin. Tammel and freshman Leah Filonuk (Greenlawn, N.Y.) continue to be dominant near the net, with a combined 21 kills.
Sophomore Broghan Miller (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Marcia Hollingsworth (Alexandria, Va.) made it difficult for Caldwell to score any points, tallying 7 total blocks.
SCSU awaits its next game on Thursday night against Mercy. The game will take place at 5:30 p.m.
