CALDWELL, N.J. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team edges out a victory over Caldwell on Monday night, 3-2. Sophomore
Broghan Miller (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Owls with 16 kills and 13 digs. SCSU beat Caldwell for the second time this year by the scores of 14-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-21 and 15-13.
The Owls have now won their eighth consecutive game and have improved to 15-3. Caldwell is now 3-5.
This was the second match in the Owls last three that was decided by the final game. SCSU rallied back after losing the first game 14-25. The lead went back and forth throughout the match but the Owls were able to pull away by two points in the final game.
Junior
Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, Minn) had 13 kills and 13 digs in the win. She now has 183 kills on the season, leading all Owls. Freshman
Leah Filonuk (Greenlawn, N.Y.) also had double-digit kills with 12. Freshman
Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, N.J.) led the Owls offensively with a game-high 36 kills and sophomore
Robin Priest (Cheshire, Conn.) added a team-high 19 digs.
The Owls return home on Wednesday, September 24 where they will look to continue their win streak against conference opponent Bentley. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
