NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team improved to 17-4 on Saturday after defeating AIC and Molloy. Junior
Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, Minn.) led the Owls offensively with 26 total kills and 29 total digs. They defeated AIC and Molloy, both by the scores of 3-1.
The Owls first matchup of the day went four games as they won by the scores of 25-23, 19-25, 25-10 and 26-24. Freshman
Leah Filonuk (Greenlawn, N.Y.) had a team-high 13 kills and added 11 digs. Junior
Marcia Hollingsworth (Alexandria, Va.) had 10 kills and 5 blocks and freshman
Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, N.J.) led the Owls with 24 assists.
The second matchup went four games as well as the Owls won by the scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19. Despite losing the first game, they were able to win the next three and defeat Molloy for the second time this season.
Tammel had a game-high 17 kills and 17 digs in the win over Molloy. Freshman
Chelsea Callahan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) added 9 kills and had a team-high 18 digs and junior
Manjit Chase (Alexandria, Va.) had a team-high 23 assists.
The Owls return to action on Thursday, October 2. They remain home as they face Dominican for the second time this season. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
