WORCESTER, Mass. –
Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) and
Ancil Farrier (Los Bajos, Trinidad) both scored a goal, as the men's soccer team battled Assumption College to a tie in double overtime on Tuesday night in Worcester, Mass. With the tie, the record of the Owls went to 4-4-3, 3-1-3 in NE-10 competition, while the Greyhounds go to 4-2-3, 3-0-3.
The Owls fell behind early as Stephen Blaisdell and Andrew Kroh each scored for the Greyhounds in the first 24 minutes of the game. However, a penalty kick by Farrier just before the halftime whistle cut the lead in half, 2-1.
In the second half of action, Templeton put away the equalizer in the 87th minute to tie the game at two. Neither team could find the back of the net in overtime, as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) tallied six saves in the draw for the Owls, while Brandan Sullivan made eleven saves for the Greyhounds.
The Owls are back in action on Oct. 4 for a conference match against, Northeast-10 conference leader, Southern New Hampshire. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
