Men’s Soccer Blanks AIC, 4-0, In NE-10 Action

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Four different members of the men's soccer team scored goals, as Southern downed AIC, 4-0 on Tuesday night in Springfield, Mass. Three first half goals gave the Owls a comfortable lead, propelling the squad to their fourth win in a row. With the victory, SCSU improved to 11-3-1, 8-2-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Yellowjackets dropped to 7-10, 4-7 in league play.

Freshman midfielder Yoni Feldman (Ramat-Gan, Israel) scored the only goal SCSU would need in the game in the 23rd minute of action. Sophomore Jeremy Tavares (Waterbury, Conn.) assisted the Feldman's fourth goal of the year.

Forward Cedric Panzu (Mons-En-Baroeul, France) made it a 2-0 advantage for the Owls with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half. Sophomore midfielder Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) capped off the first half scoring summary with a freekick with 4:50 remaining in the opening stanza.

After intermission, sophomore forward Eric Vasquez (Meriden, Conn.) scored the fourth and final goal for the Owls in the 68th minute. His second mark gave Southern a commanding 4-0 lead.

Owl goalkeeper Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) and Dan Hajducky (Trumbull, Conn.) combined for one save in the team's sixth shutout of the campaign.

The Owls are back in action on Oct. 22 when the team travels to North Andover, Mass. for a Northeast-10 Conference match-up against Merrimack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
