NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team fell to Merrimack, 1-0 on Thursday evening at Warriors Field. The lone goal in the 32nd minute of action proved to be the difference as the Owls suffered their fourth loss of the 2009 campaign.
With the defeat, the Owls dropped to 11-4-1, 8-2-1 in Northeast-10 competition, while the Warriors improved to 9-6-1, 7-4 in league play.
Merrimack struck first in the opening stanza when freshman forward Olof Lindhe scored the game's only goal. His third mark of the season granted the hosting Warriors a 1-0 victory, inching Merrimack closer to Southern in the Northeast-10 Conference Standings.
Dan Hajducky (Trumbull, Conn.) made five saves in the losing effort for the Owls, while Doug Carvalho Kevin Joyce recorded five saves in the victory for Merrimack.
The Owls are back in action on Oct. 24 with an away game against No. 5 Southern New Hampshire. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
