Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) registered two goals, as the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team upset No. 5 Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, N.H. on Saturday evening. With the victory, the Owls remain in control of fourth place (12-4-1, 9-3-1) in the Northeast-10 Conference standings and handed the Penmen just their second loss of the season.

Southern New Hampshire opened the scoring summary early on in the first half. In the 17th minute of play, Ethan Lapierre's third mark of the season gave the Penmen a 1-0 advantage.

However, Hernandez and the Owls' offense responded very quickly with a goal of their own. Sophomore Jeremy Tavares (Waterbury, Conn.) assisted Hernandez's fourth goal of the campaign, knotting the game up at 1-1.

After intermission, SCSU took advantage of a sluggish start from the hosting Penmen. Just 2:42 into the second stanza, Hernandez tallied his second goal of the game. His fifth goal of the season put the Owls in front by the score of 2-1.

The two goals were all that sophomore goalkeeper Dan Hajducky (Trumbull, Conn.) and Southern's defense needed as the team held on for the 2-1 result. Hajducky made one save in the win, while Sean Lambert registered two stops for the Penmen.

The Owls return to action on Nov. 1 when the squad kicks off the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. Please check back to www.southernctowls.com for more information regarding the event.
