NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In a game that featured a delayed start, a second half lightning delay and a series of torrential downpours, the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team was defeated by Franklin Pierce on Saturday night, 2-0.
Southern Connecticut dropped to 7-3-1, 4-2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play with the loss. Franklin Pierce moved to 7-3-2, 5-2-1 in league action.
After a scoreless first half, the Ravens scored just 3:15 into the second half on a goal from Frantz Francois.
However, lightning halted play a few minutes later. After a 34 minute delay, the teams resumed action.
Franklin Pierce made it 2-0 with 18:32 left in regulation on a goal from Francois.
The Owls return to action on Oct. 10 for a game at Bentley.
