Box Score vs. Caldwell
CALDWELL, N.J. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team dropped to Wilmington and Caldwell on Saturday afternoon in a double-header. The Owls fell short to Wilmington 3-2 and Caldwell 3-0. Southern is now 22-9 overall and remain 8-6 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Wilmington is 14-15 overall and Caldwell is 18-11.
The Owls claimed the first set against Wilmington, 25-19 but lost games two, three and five by the scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 15-13 respectively.
Seniors
Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, Minn.),
Marcia Hollingsworth (Alexandria, Va.) and sophomore
Megan Lyons (Cold Spring, N.Y.) recorded double-digit kills in the loss. Tammel tallied a team-high 11 kills and added 12 digs to notch a double-double. Lyons registered a double-double as well with 10 kills and a team-high 19 digs. Freshman
Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, N.J.) dished out a team-best 29 assists.
In the second match, Southern dropped to Caldwell by the scores of 25-23, 25-9 and 25-20. Tammel led the team with eight kills and freshman
Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) recorded 18 assists. Freshman
Vanessa Sullivan (Paramus, N.J.) led the defense with 15 digs.
Southern returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 3 as they travel to New Hampshire for the team's final Northeast-10 regular season match against Saint Anselm. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
