With the win, the Owls improved to 2-0, 1-0 in Northeast-10 Conference competition, while the Dolphins fell to 0-1, 0-1 in the league.

In the opening stanza, the Owls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With 4:45 left in the first half, freshman Ashley O'Dell (Lincoln, R.I.) connected on a lay-up giving Southern its largest advantage of the game at 14. Le Moyne battled back with a 10-4 run of its own, but Southern carried a 32-24 lead into halftime.

Once again, the two teams would exchange buckets down the stretch. The Dolphins pulled to within two points with just under a minute to play, but sophomore forward LaTisha Hatcher (Detroit, Mich.) would put the game out of reach. A lay-up and a free-throw gave the Owls a five point lead with 18 second left, eventually leading to a 68-64 victory on the road.
