NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team lost a Northeast-10 match-up to Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon, 65-50. The Owls trailed just three at halftime but the Golden Knights pulled away in the last 20 minutes of regulation to grab the win. Freshman
Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) led Southern with 16 points.
Southern is now 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Saint Rose improved to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the NE-10.
Saint Rose came out strong to start the first half, taking an 11 point lead with 12:36 remaining but Southern cut the deficit to four after a 10-3 run. The next eight and a half minutes went back and forth as the Owls trailed by three at the half, 27-24.
The last twenty minutes of regulation was all Golden Knights. The Owls were down three at the 13:51 mark but Saint Rose pulled away and led by as much as 20 with less than three minutes to play. They would eventually take the game, 65-50.

Clyde Chapman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman
Ante Cosic (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) joined Carberry in double-digits with 10 a piece. Chapman also led the Owls with nine rebounds and sophomore
Chris Harris (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dished out a team-high four assists.
Brian Hanuschak led all scorers with 22 points and Jermaine Clark added 19 for Saint Rose, including five from behind-the-arc.
The Owls return to action on Tuesday, December 8 with an away game against Assumption. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
