GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team's run came to an end on Wednesday night as they fell short to Northeast-10 opponent Adelphi, 3-0. Prior to the match, the Owls had won 13 straight and their loss to the Panthers was the first of the season.
Southern is now 13-1 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10. Adelphi improved to 9-6 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Panthers won by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19.
Senior
Jenna Tammel (Spring Valley, Minn.) led the offensive attack with nine kills and sophomore
Andrea Nolan (Ridgefield, N.J.) dished out a team-high 15 assists.
Defensively, the Owls were led by freshman
Vanessa Sullivan (Paramus, N.J.) and junior
Broghan Miller (West Hartford, Conn.) with 19 and 10 digs respectively.
Hilary Pavels tallied 10 kills and Heather Mau recorded 34 assists for Adelphi.
The Owls head back to New York on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against NE-10 opponent Le Moyne.
