Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) and sophomore forward
Kieran Ramsey (North Hollywood, Conn.) registered 12 and 11 points respectively but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference match-up to Bentley on Saturday at the Dana Center. The final score of the contest was 81-58.
With the loss, the Owls dropped to 2-12, 1-8 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Falcons improved to 12-2, 7-2 in the league.
Bentley came out on fire shooting 50 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. Jason Westrol led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting, giving the Falcons a 42-25 lead at halftime. Carberry led the Owls with seven points and
John Mazzarella (Wallingford, Conn.) and
Kieran Ramsey each chipped in with four.
After the break, the Falcons continued to have success on the offensive end. Bentley outscored the Owls 20-10 in the paint and registered 12 points off turnovers. Southern put up a stronger performance in the second half against the conference's second ranked team, but could not overcome its first half deficit.
Ramsey finished with 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting and grabbed six rebounds for the Owls.
Dexton Williamson (Bridgeport, Conn.) and
Clyde Chapman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed 10 rebounds each and nine and four points respectively.
Westrol led all scorers with 30 points for the hosting Falcons and Kevin Kettl added 12.
The Owls are back in action on January 12 with a home game against Saint Michael's. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Moore Field House.
