Men’s Soccer Ties No. 9 Southern New Hampshire, 1-1

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Esposito made seven saves for the Owls in a 1-1 tie with Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday night.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. Senior Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) scored in the first half to give the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team a 1-0 lead. However, Southern New Hampshire University answered with a goal of its own in the second half to tie the score at 1-1, where it would stay for the reminder of the Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday night.  With the tie, the Owls go to 11-2-2 on the season, and 8-2-2 in the NE-10, while Southern New Hampshire University goes to 11-1-3 on the year, and 7-1-3 in NE-10 play.

Senior Victor Hernandez (East Haven, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game 32:55 into the game.  The goal was assisted by junior Cedric Panzu.

The Owls took the lead into halftime, but 21:32 into the second half Southern New Hampshire University scored the tying goal when the ball deflected off of a SCSU player.

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Esposito made 7 saves, including a leaping stop in the second half that kept the Owls on top, 1-0, at the time.

Southern New Hampshire University goalkeeper, Jon Mayo made 1 save.

SCSU returns to action on October 29 when they host Merrimack College on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
