Bentley Sweeps Volleyball, 3-0

Junior Megan Hiss recorded a double-double in the Owls 3-0 loss to Bentley on Saturday.

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior outside hitter Megan Hiss (Trinidad, Colo.) recorded a team-high nine kills, however it was not enough as the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball fell to Bentley University, 3-0 (25-21, 12-25, 25-21) in a Northeast-10 Conference match on Saturday. With the win Bentley improves to 15-2 on the season, and 8-4 in NE-10 action, while the Owls fall to 13-13 on the year, and 5-8 in the NE-10.

SCSU led 17-14 in the first before Bentley went on an 11-4 run to take the first set, 25-21.

The Falcons took the second set in convincing fashion, 25-12, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Owls fell behind 17-7 in the third set, prior to scoring 14 out of the final 22 points of the match, but it was not enough as Bentley took the frame, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.

For SCSU, sophomore setter Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) dished out a team-high 26 assists, while sophomore libero Vanessa Sullivan (Paramus, N.J.) had a team-high 14 digs.

Kelly Mee had a match-high 37 assists for Bentley.

Bridget Lawson and Andrea Farah each recorded 10 kills in the winning effort.

For the Falcons, Morgan O'Laughlin had 12 digs in the victory.

The Owls return to action when they host Bloomfield College on November 1 at 7 p.m.
