Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Bentley University, 2-0

Ross McGibney scored two goals to lead the Owls past Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University, 2-0, on Saturday.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore midfielder Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) scored two goals to lead the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team past Bentley University, 2-0. With the win the Owls improve to 9-2 on the season, and 8-2 in the NE-10, while Bentley drops to 6-2-2 on the year, 3-1-2 in the NE-10.

With 14:24 remaining in the first half McGibney's shot found the back of the net to break a scoreless tie, and put the Owls ahead 1-0.

Leading 1-0, McGibney added his second goal of the game to give the SCSU a 2-0 lead. Harry Appiah's (Pawtucket, R.I.) assist set up the Owls' goal.

Junior goalkeeper Andrew Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) made four saves in the winning effort.

Goalkeeper Mike Nikiforov made two saves for Bentley.

The Owls return to action on Tuesday when they travel to take on Northeast-10 Conference rival Le Moyne.
