A NEW SEASON BEGINS
It's a new era for the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team as it opens the 2010-11 season on Saturday against Chestnut Hill at the University of Bridgeport Tournament. The Owls will then take on the host Purple Knights on Sunday. Game times are set for 5 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
WELCOME ABOARD
Saturday's game will be the Owls' sideline debut for first-year head coach
Michael Donnelly, who was named to the position in May, 2010. Donnelly spent the previous seven seasons at nearby Division II member Post University, where he built the Eagles into a perennial league contender.
RETURNING A STRONG CORE
Southern Connecticut returns six student-athletes from last year's squad - seniors

Kieran Ramsey and sophomore
Ante Cosic.

A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING
Saturday's game will be the first-ever meeting between Chestnut Hill and Southern Connecticut State.
VERY FAMILIAR TERRITORY
On the flip side, the Owls have faced Bridgeport more than any other opponent in program history. Sunday's game will be the 81st meeting between the two schools. UB holds a 48-32 edge in the series.
IN THE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
The Owls were selected 15th in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.
LOOKING BACK AT THE SEASON
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball program finished the 2009-10 season with an overall mark of 2-25. The Owls recorded wins over Adelphi - the first-place team in the Northeast-10 Conference at the time of the victory - and Dowling during the season.
RECEIVING THEIR JUST DUE
The Owls were named the recipient of the 2009-10 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Sportsmanship award for their play during the course of the season.
QUARTET PICKS UP LEAGUE ACCOLADES
Four Owls -
Clyde Chapman,
Lance Long,
Johnnie Bird and
Jonathan Schofield - were named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2009-10 academic year.
DISHING IT OUT
Junior guard
Chris Harris was ninth in the NE-10 in assists in 2009-10. He also finished 12th in assist-turnover ratio.
ON DECK
The Northeast-10 Conference opener is on Nov. 17 when LeMoyne visits Moore Field House for a 7:30 p.m. start.
