Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) each recorded double-double's as the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Bloomfield College in five sets, 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-8). With the win, the Owls improved to 14-13 on the season, while Bloomfield fell to 10-14 on the year.
SCSU took a hard fought first set, 25-21, before Bloomfield fought back to take the second frame, 25-21, to tie the match at 1-1.
The Owls won the pivotal third set by a margin of 25-23.
Bloomfield pulled away in the fourth set, winning the frame, 25-17, to force a fifth, and deciding set.
SCSU was able to put Bloomfield away in the fifth set winning the frame 15-8, and the match, 3-2.
Miller recorded 11 kills and had 13 digs to record a double-double in the winning effort.
For the Owls, Lyons had 13 kills and 13 digs to notch a double-double. Lyons and freshman outside hitter
Sarah Beres each had a team-high 13 kills in the win.
Lachowicz dished out a match-high 41 assists, to go along with 12 digs, to be the third Owl who had a double-double in the victory. Sophomore libero
Vanessa Sullivan (Paramus, N.J.) had 28 digs in the winning effort.
SCSU returns to action when they host Saint Michael's on November 5 at 7 p.m.
