NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped a conference match against AIC, 58-53 Sunday afternoon. The Owls record falls to 3-2 overall, 1-2 in the Northeast-10 while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-1 overall, 3-0 in conference play.

Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ont.) netted a team best 16 points with six boards, three assists and two steals to lead the Owls. Junior
Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) and senior
Shelley Pierson (Watervliet, N.Y.) tallied 10 points each, while Moore was two rebounds shy of reaching a double-double.
The Owls trailed 28-20 at the half but jumped out to a fast started in the second going on a quick 8-1 in the first six minutes to put the Owls ahead, 35-30. Despite the early efforts of the second half, AIC came back with a vengeance shooting 33.3 percent in the field while making 11-15 free throws to propel the Yellow Jackets past Southern, 58-53.
Southern shot 34.5 percent (15-55) and 53.3 percent (8-15) from three, while AIC shot 37.7 percent from the field and a stellar 77.8 percent from the line.
The Owls will travel to Garden City, N.Y. on December 1as they compete against Adelphi at 5:30 p.m.
