Men's Soccer Tops Assumption, 2-1

Ross McGibney and the Owls improved to 4-0 with Tuesday's victory over Assumption.
WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior midfielder Victor Hernandez's (Rye Book, N.Y.) second half goal was the difference maker, as the No. 25 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team recorded a 2-1 win over Assumption on Tuesday night in Worcester, Mass. With the win SCSU improved to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play. 

Ross McGibney (Dublin, Ireland) scored his third goal in as many games just 25 seconds into the game. Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) assisted on the goal for the Owls.

Hernandez's goal at the 69:37 mark of the second half put the Owls up 2-0. He was set up on the play by Harry Appiah (Pawtucket, R.I.) 

Steve Blaisdell scored a goal at the 79:50 mark of the second half to pull Assumption within one, but the Owls would hang on from there.

Goalie Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) made three saves in the match for the Owls. 

SCSU will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Colchester, Vt. to take on Saint Michael's.
