BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Sophomore
Ross McGibney (Westport, Conn.) netted the eventual game-winning goal just 2:48 into the second half as the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Caldwell College on Saturday afternoon. The Owls improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.
Caldwell opened the scoring with a marker in the 13th minute from Kieran Bisland.
However, the Owls had a quick answer to even the score.
Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) connected just 3:39 later off a feed from
Victor Hernandez (Rye Brook, N.Y.) to make it 1-1.
The game stayed that way until early in the second half when McGibney found the back of the net off a pass from Hernandez.
Southern Connecticut was able to hang on from there for the win.
Goalie
Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) finished with two saves in the contest.
SCSU outshot Caldwell by a 21-6 margin in the match.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday for the Northeast-10 opener at St. Anselm.
