Men's Soccer Remains Perfect With 1-0 Shutout Of Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophomore Ross McGibney (Westport, Conn.) registered the game-winning goal for the second match in a row to propel the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout of Saint Anselm in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams on Wednesday. McGibney's marker came in the 69th minute and allowed the Owls to remain perfect on the year at 3-0.

The Owls held a 9-4 advantage in shots in the first half, but were unable to connect for a tally until midway through the second stanza. Harry Appiah (Pawtucket, R.I.) found McGibney for a successful header from the top of the box.

Southern keeper Chris Rybacki (Putnam, Conn.) stopped two shots to earn his second clean sheet in three outings.

SCSU held a 20-8 advantage in shots on goal for the contest.

The Owls return to action on Tuesday for a NE-10 game at Assumption.
