COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team lost to St. Michael's on Tuesday night in a Northeast-10 Conference contest, 62-43.

The Owls are now 8-6, 5-5 in Northeast-10 Conference play. St. Michael's is 5-8, 3-6 in league play.

Chazz McCarter (New Haven, Conn.) led the Owls with nine points and added five rebounds. Dexton Williamson (Bridgeport, Conn.) added eight points and six rebounds.

SCSU scored the first bucket of the game, but St. Michael's rolled off eight straight points and never trailed again the rest of the way.

Leading 17-11 roughly midway through the opening half, the Purple Knights scored eight straight points to seize control of the contest. The Owls trailed by 10 at the break, 32-22.

SCSU was unable to close the gap to single digits in the second half. Leading 43-33 with 12:11 remaining, St. Michael's scored seven straight points and held off the Owls from there.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday when they host Franklin Pierce at 3:30 p.m.
