MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore forward
Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team lost an 82-60 decision at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls are now 9-8 overall, 6-7 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Southern New Hampshire improved to 7-10, 3-10 in league action.
Hamlet was the only Owl to reach double figures.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) and
Kieran Ramsey (North Hollywood, Calif.) each had eight points.
It was a game that aside from a brief span in the opening minutes, SNHU led from practically start to finish. The Penmen used a 10-0 run late in the first half to turn an eight point lead into an 18-point cushion. The Owls rallied to score the final five points of the first half and cut the deficit to 15, 45-30, at the break.
SCSU would get no closer than that in the second half and the Penmen went on to the 22-point win.
The Owls are back in action on Tuesday when they host Merrimack.
