Paul Templeton (Saltcoats, Scotland) tried to rally the Owls with a late second half goal, but Stonehill hung on to defeat the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team, 3-2, Wednesday night at Jess Dow Field.
Templeton notched his fourth and fifth goals of the season. The first goal was a strike into the left corner from 18 yards out as the ball popped out after a defensive scuffle.
In the 85th minute, Templeton struck again from 20 yards out and buried the ball into the right corner of the net.
Redshirt freshman Stephen Sasso (Orange, Conn.) recorded four saves in the contest.
Southern will host UMass-Lowell Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. at Jess Dow Field.
