NEW HAVEN Conn - The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team dominated the game against No. 15 Nationally ranked Merrimack but was not able to find the back of the net. The Owls best scoring opportunity came in the 2nd half when Flavia Bernardes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was fouled inside the box. Suzane Pires (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was awarded the penalty kick but was stopped by the Merrimack goaltender.

Southern Connecticut out shot Merrimack 16-to-9. Jenna Mallico (Milford, Conn.) and Pires lead the team, both recording two shots on goal. Hannah Spreckley (York, England), Kylie Rogers (Wallingford, Conn.) Bernardes each recorded a shot on goal.

Goaltender Jacquelyn Fede (North Haven, Conn.) earned the shutout stopping all five shots on goal during the game. This is the 12th game this season, Fede has recorded a shutout.

The Owls next game will be Wednesday, October 26 when they host Saint Rose. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and it is Senior Night.
