Sarah Beres (Ellington, Conn.) continued to fuel the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team by leading the Owls in kills for the second straight match, posting 13 kills to go along with four service aces in a 3-1 victory over Mercy College today.

Syriah Celestine (Greenlawn, N.Y.) played strong on both sides of the net today with 10 kills off just 20 attacks including six block assists.
Megan Hiss totaled eight kills through the four sets including four digs with three block assists.
Kimberly Lachowicz (Mansfield, Texas) posted 39 assists, while
Jessica Ryder (Waterford, Conn.) contributed three kills and six digs for the Owls off the bench and
Caelese Brown (West Hartford, Conn.) had three kills off six attacks.
The Owls and Mercy started out the match giving the crowd a worthy overtime first set with both teams fighting to enforce their dominance with Mercy eventually taking the set, 28-26. From then on, the Owls bunkered down on the defensive side of the ball allowing just a -0.061 and 0.051 hitting percentages through the next two sets winning 25-21 and 25-17. In the final set, the Owls continued their momentum into a 25-21 victory to improve to 13-5 on the season.
After today's set of matches, the Owls will be back in action Tuesday at home against Pace with the match to start at 7 p.m.
