WORCESTER, Mass. - Four players scored in double figures, led by a 19-point effort from junior forward
Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.), but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped a 92-78 decision to Assumption on Tuesday evening in a Northeast-10 Conference contest.
The Owls are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in NE-10 play. Assumption is 3-1, 2-0.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) had 16 points for the Owls, while
Dominique Langston (Bridgeport, Conn.) added 14 points and six rebounds. Kyle Callahan (Bennington, Vt.) also reached double digits with 10 points and a team-high four assists.
The game was tied at 5-5 in the opening minutes before Assumption went on a 7-0 run and never trailed again. The Greyhounds led by as many as 15 in the first half and carried a 49-35 lead into halftime.
The Owls were able to trim the Assumption lead to 10 in the second half, but never into single digits. Assumption shot 63-percent from the field for the game, including 65-percent (13-of-20) from behind the arc.
Southern Connecticut returns to action on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. when it hosts St. Rose.
