Women's Basketball Knocks Off Previously Unbeaten Saint Rose, 64-63

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) hit a three-point shot with four seconds remaining to lift the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team over previously undefeated Saint Rose, 64-63, on Sunday afternoon at Moore Field House. Sophomore forward Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) also tallied career-highs with 21 points and 17 rebounds in the win. The double-double for Smith Ocran was a career-high in both categories.




The game was back-and-forth all night. Saint Rose went into the locker room at half leading by three but the Owls locked down on defense in the second. The Owls only allowed Saint Rose to scored 28 points in the second half. Senior Alex Fiola (Fall River, Mass.) helped contribute to the win, recording 14 points, three assists and three steals on the night. Forward Keisha Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) also added eight points and four steals.



The Owls improve to 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Saint Rose drops to 4-1 and 2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Owls next game will be Wednesday, when they host Pace University. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
