EWING N.J.- The Southern Connecticut Men's Swimming and Diving team was defeated by The College of New Jersey 160-98 Saturday afternoon.

Senior Matthew Sorena (Brookfield, Conn.) placed first in the 1000 Freestyle (9:50.54) and the 500 Freestyle (4:51.27).

Senior Austin Mizzell (Bristol, Conn) placed first (1:00.99) and Sophomore Christian Sinchi (Bristol, Conn) placed second (1:02.08) in the 100 Breaststroke. Sinchi also took second place in the 200 Breaststroke (2:19:57) later in the meet.

The Owls picked up second place performances from Miguel Nesrala (Santo Domingo, D.R.) in the 100 Freestyle (49.26), Thomas Kuhn (Yakima, Wash.) in the 100 Butterfly (56.19), Dan Elliot (Bellmore, N.Y.) in the 200 Individual Medley (2:13.30), and Oscar Castillo (Norwalk Conn.) in the 200 Backstroke (2:03.63).

Castillo teamed up with Mike Ladelfa (New Milford, Conn.), Domenick Errico (West Hartford, Conn.) and Joseph Polaco (Waterbury, Conn.) to win second in the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:26.65).

The Owls will be back in action at the USMMA Invite in Kings Point, N.Y. Saturday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m.
