Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a game-high 23 points, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team couldn't overcome a second half deficit in a 76-73 loss to American International on Saturday.
The Owls are now 4-3, 3-2 in Northeast-10 play. AIC moved to 3-4, 2-3 in league action.
Hamlet hit on 9-of-12 shots from the field and added five rebounds and three blocks.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) contributed 20 points, five boards and a team-high three steals.
Dominique Langston (Bridgeport, Conn.) was also in double digits with 12 points and six rebounds.
The game was a close affair for most of the first half. The Owls took their largest lead at four points, 28-24, with 6:53 to go in the half, before AIC went on a 14-1 run to take a 38-29 lead. SCSU scored the final four points to cut the AIC lead to 38-33 at the break.
The Owls were able to close within two in the second half, but couldn't climb in front at any point in the frame.
SCSU is back in action on Tuesday at LeMoyne.
