Sylvonya Moore's (Stockton, Calif.) career-high 27 points leads the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball to a come from behind victory to take down AIC in overtime, 71-66. The Owls were down eight going into the second half but strong defense kept the Yellow Jackets to only 29 points. AIC had an opportunity to win the game at the end regulation but missed a lay-up with two second left. The Owls only allowed AIC to put up three points in overtime, while the Owls were able to score eight points. Moore scored all eight points in overtime.
Sylvonya Moore finished the day with 27 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Junior
Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) put together a strong game against the Yellow Jackets, scoring 16 points, eight rebounds and six steals on the day. Guard
Alex Fiola (Fall River, Mass.) chipped in 10 points and four assists in the win.
Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) was a key piece in the win, scoring nine points and seven rebounds. Smith-Ocran was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor.
The Owls improve to 3-3 on the season and 3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Southern Connecticut's next game will be Tuesday, when they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to play Le Moyne College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
