SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball won a tough road contest against Le Moyne College, 52-45. The Owls led by five points going into halftime but allowed the Dolphins to slowly crawl back into the game throughout the second half. The game was back-and-forth within the final minutes of regulation. The Owls were able to compile a five-point lead with less than a minute to play and they held on through the final seconds. Forward
Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) came up huge for the Owls, leading the team in scoring with 18 points and nine rebounds.
The team tallied 16 steals on the night while only allowing Le Moyne to collect two.
Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed to the action, scoring nine points and collecting five rebounds.
Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) chipped in eight points, three steals and four rebounds.
Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif),
Lauren Allen (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and
Mariah Hankton (Upper Marlboro, Md.) each contributed for four points in the game.
The Owls move to 4-3 on the season and 4-2 in Northeast-10 Conference action. They return home Saturday to face in-state rival University of New Haven. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 1:30 p.m.
